Abstract: 

Objective(s): Taking the importance of end-users' satisfaction in the overall success of a HIS, this study was performed to assess their attitudes in different hospitals in Tehran.Methods: Interviews were made with officials of 20 hospitals in Tehran. Research tool was a questionnaire in 8 parts. Results: Sixty three officials entered into the study. The average age was 40.7 years and 62.1% were male. 80.5% of the respondents indicated that they were satisfied or very satisfied with HIS in their hospitals. In general several factors found to be important to the HIS users. These were: better communication and quicker and more effective access to data, reports and outputs, organization management, resources, proper training for managers and users, compliance assessment inside the organization, ease of learning and implementation, effective support, and ease of use. Conclusion: The development of hospital information systems in Iran is in its early stages and despite their considerable progresses during recent years, they still require more investment in order to satisfy the administrators' and end users' expections.

Abstract: 

Background & Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of Cone-beam computerized Tomography (CBCT) linear measurements in dry mandibles by comparing them with direct measurements.Methods: Two human dry mandibles were used in this study. Thirteen sites were selected on each mandible. Specimens were scanned by CBCT and linear measurements were made using Planmeca Romexis 2.3.0.R software. Mandibles were cut into sections at marked locations and the same distances were measured by a digital caliper. Differences between two methods were assessed using paired t- test.Results: The mean differences for bone height, bone width and the crest-canal distance between CBCT and digital caliper measurements were -0.47±1 mm, -0.14±0.78 mm and 0.00±0.76 mm respectively. The differences were only, significant for bone height measurements (P<0.05). There was a high carreltion between the result of CBCT and gold standard.Conclusion: The results of this in-vitro study on mandible indicate that, although there is a statistically significant difference for bone height measurements between the two methods, the difference is not significant in clinical applications. Thus, CBCT was shown to be a useful technique for preoperative dental implant planning.

Abstract: 

Purpose: Considering the role and importance of information technology in organizations, the purpose of this research is to explain the audit framework in the field of information technology and review of the results of researches conducted in this field.Methodology: In this research, while reviewing the theoretical foundations of auditing in the field of information technology in foreign and domestic researches, the processes and the theoretical framework presented in order to ensure the adequacy of the controls applied on the information systems and confirm the proper effectiveness of this system has been discussed.Findings: The findings of the research indicate that due to the rapid emergence of information technology and the demand for faster access to financial information, Familiarity of internal and external auditors to the risks of software and hardware related to information systems and their training and awareness is mandatory.Conclusion: The best way to conduct a comprehensive and reliable audit in the field of information technology is to create an audit team with a diverse mix of experienced auditors and trained with sufficient skills. This can be developed through the continuous cooperation of audit committees and internal auditors with departments related to information technology and senior management.Contribution: One of the best globally accepted procedures is COBIT and this topic has been addressed in a very limited way in internal researches, therefore the present research can provide useful information to auditors and interested parties and lead to more attention to the issue of information technology audit.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Evaluation of hospital information system (HIS) is a complex endeavor, in which all human, technical and organizational aspects should be considered. This study aimed to develop indicators for HIS evaluation.Methods: Present qualitative study was carried out through a cross-sectional method in 2012 in Kerman province, using Delphi technique. Given the objectives of this study, three independent phases were performed including literature review, providing draft indicators for HIS evaluation and reaching consensus. Required data were obtained through interviews and designed forms. Twenty-three experts composed the study population in interview and reaching consensus phases. Validity and reliability were confirmed through content validity and test-retest method, respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.Results: Final set of indicators for HIS evaluation consisted of ninety-one indicators under 8 main topics, i.e. technical quality, software quality, architecture and interface quality, vendor quality, after-sale services quality, workflow support quality, support department, outcome quality and HIS cost.Conclusion: Given the complexity of information system evaluation, all human, technical and organizational aspects have to be taken into account in any evaluation. Proposed indicators provide the possibility of comprehensive evaluation of HIS.

Abstract: 

Recently computerized analysis of toco cardiogram has been used for diagnosis of fetal disorder both during pregnancy and labour. Both fetal heart rate (FHR) and uterine contraction (TOCO) signal have specified parameters which by anglicizing these data and their relationship, the fetal well being can be studied. The objective was to compute the specified parameters and to investigate the signal relationships for fast and more reliable diagnosis. The software displays both real time FHR and TOCO signals, graphically. The curve can also be scrolled and at any time interval a report containing the measured and calculated parameters, can be generated. The required data are collected from a fetal monitoring system using an AID interface card and  transferred to a pc. To examine the validity of the processed data;. they are collected from 32 patients referred to Valiasr hospital. All the parameters including Baseline, Signal loss, Acceleration, Deceleration, Contraction peak, Tachycardia, Bradycardia, Sinusoidal pattern, STV, were determined and were compared to specialist diagnosis. The results show that the software is able to determine not only the parameters of signal but also diagnosis fetal abnormalities.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Use of information system is an index of development in healthcare. An information system captures healthcare data and processes it to create useful information. Nursing leaders are interested in developing computerized records. In Iran, there are some computerized systems for documentation of nursing data; some functions of these systems are: bed management, Lab, X-ray and drug requests, vital signs, nursing report, Caredex and ward management. This research was done with the objective of assessing nursing information systems (NIS) in Iran.Methods: Current computer companies in Iran which have nursing modules (9 companies) were assessed in this cross sectional study in 2010. First, literature was reviewed and a valid and reliable questionnaire was developed. Then experts prioritized NIS needs. Finally, Iran’s NISs were assessed using the identified priorities.Results: Result showed that our NISs comply only 35.7% (95% CI: 29.99-41.41) of the identified priorities. None of the NISs comply nursing classification systems’ needs.85.2% of financial reports’ needs (95% CI: 73.73-96.67) were complied in our NISs.Conclusion: The result showed that NISs in Iran are not very good. Using nursing data coding systems, paying attention to bedside data capturing and active participation of nurses are recommended.
